Season of Spring: Plants and their Remedies (5/15/21 in Ft. Payne, AL)

May 15, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

$25

Description:

Join Field School Instructor, Donna Smith, for our Spring class in the Seasonal Wellness Series. Built for both the new herbal enthusiasts as well as the more advanced apothecarist, this series will help you learn more about our native plants, their many uses, and how to grow and process them in the context of your own at-home medicinal herb garden. All of this will be focused on herbs and their uses in the season of Spring, and what we need to be doing in our gardens and medicine cabinets based on the specific health needs of the season. In addition, we will be learning about native, naturally-occurring medicinals in North Alabama during a plant walk at the Canyon Center and then, after class ends, an optional visit to Donna’s farm and medicinal garden down the road!

When: Saturday, May 15th, 2021

Where: JSU’s Little River Canyon Center in Fort Payne, Alabama

Time: 9 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (CST)

Fee: $25 supply fee, pre-registration required by calling 256-845-3548 or email jwayner@jsu.edu. Limit 20 students (ages 14 and up) Be sure to bring your lunch for the day, since lunch is not provided.

Note: We recognize the importance of keeping our visitors, faculty, and staff safe. We will also be limiting the number of people in attendance to allow for proper social distancing per CDC recommendations. We will require that all individuals participating wear a mask. For health and safety reasons, we are asking individuals to stay home when they exhibit any possible signs of Covid-19 (fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, etc.) We also ask that if you are awaiting a test result after being tested due to symptoms, have cared for someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days you not attend as well.
